Asian Movie Night is a roaming film initiative which introduces a wide range of Asian films of various genres to the public in the Netherlands, with curated themes and public programmes to open up relevant discussions on timely subjects in the Dutch and broader contexts. With our love for Asian cinema, which has still a lot to offer to the Dutch movie scene, we bring in different narratives and aesthetics to a broad audience through collaboration with different venues. Our aim is to contribute to the diversity of Dutch society, foster cross-cultural understanding and cultivate a sense of empathy across differences through an experience centered around film.

Asian Movie Night started in 2017 as a student initiative in ArtEZ Arnhem, and was established as a foundation in 2020. We have a supervisory board consisting of Chairperson Kim ver der Werff (Focus Filmtheater), Secretary Vincent Xin Zhong (ArtEZ), and Treasurer Maarten van Gageldonk (KloosterKino / Kaboom), who are either professional in the film industry or have extensive expertise in project management. The Artistic Director is Kleopatra Vorria (ArtEZ alumni), an artist and a writer.

The Business Director is Yuchen Li (ArtEZ alumni), an artist and a cultural project producer, who have had extensive experience in marketing and business development working as Corporate Account Manager for TIME Magazine at the Bangkok office. In the past years, we have received financial support from Municipality Arnhem, Stroomversneller, Prince Bernhard Cultural Funds for equipment and sponsorship from ArtEZ University of Arts.

As a roaming project, we have had collaboration with various institutes, such as Focus Filmtheater, WALTER Books, ArtEZ University of Arts, Under the Table, Collectie de Groen, Omstand and B53 Art Space in Arnhem, KloosterKino, Lux in Nijmegen, OtherWise and Wageningen University in Wageningen, Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam, Bak basis voor actuele kunst in Utrecht, KINO in Rotterdam, Limestone Books Maastricht, WORM Rotterdam.
